URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Binghamton NY 405 PM EST Tue Jan 16 2024 ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM EST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, except locally around 1 foot in the far northwestern portion of the county. * WHERE...Northern Oneida county. * WHEN...Until 5 AM Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A heavy lake effect snow band extends east from Lake Ontario that will shift south into the area by 6 PM then continuing into the overnight. The highest snowfall totals will be across northwestern portions of the county in or around the Camden and Florence area. Snowfall rates up to 2 inches per hour are possible within the lake effect snow band tonight. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
