URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 1255 PM AKST Sun Dec 7 2025 ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 40 to 50 below. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will be a long duration cold outbreak, with overnight low temperatures below -20F through the end of the week. Breezy conditions will make it feel much colder than the ambient air temperature, with wind chills dropping to as low as -50F. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Be sure to have an emergency kit in your car and appropriate cold weather clothing and blankets in case your car breaks down.
