...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS VALLEYS AND COASTAL AREAS OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES...
.A strong Santa Ana wind event will continue to develop today over Ventura and Los Angeles counties, and continuing through Friday evening. The strongest winds will occur tonight and Friday morning with northeasterly wind gusts generally between 50 and 70 mph. Humidities will drop into the single digits today and Friday with little, if any, recovery tonight. Temperatures will warm into the 80s below the mountains on Friday.
There will be an overall break in the winds Saturday and Saturday night. However, beginning Sunday, another round of Santa Ana winds is expected to develop with the gusty winds lasting through Tuesday. At this time, this particular event looks to be weaker than the current Santa Ana event. However, very dry conditions will persist across the area. So, there is a good chance of widespread critical fire weather conditions across Ventura and and Los Angeles counties.
