The National Weather Service in Gray has issued an Excessive Heat Watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. * Heat Index Values...Up to 109 due to temperatures reaching the upper 90s and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...Temperatures will warm quickly by late in the morning and will begin to drop below dangerous levels after 7 pm. * Impacts...Excessive heat and humidity can be extremely dangerous to the elderly, the young, those working outside, and people with existing heart conditions. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
