URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 240 AM CDT Fri Apr 26 2024 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20-FT WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER FOR SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO, THE WESTERN HIGH TERRAIN, AND INTO THE BIG BEND... * AFFECTED AREA...Southeast New Mexico, the western high terrain, and into the Big Bend. * TIMING...For the Red Flag Warning, from 9 AM CDT /8 AM MDT/ this morning to 11 PM CDT /10 PM MDT/ this evening. For the Fire Weather Watch, from Friday morning through Friday evening. * WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Stronger gusts expected in the mountains. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 7 percent. * RFTI...5 or critical. * IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks, such as outdoor burning or welding.
