COASTAL HAZARD MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSONVILLE FL 107 AM EST WED NOV 15 2017 ...high rip current risk remains in effect through this evening... * timing, high rip current risk through wednesday evening especially during the outgoing tide cycles. * impacts, frequent life threatening rip currents can be expected in the surf zone at northeast florida beaches. rough surf will also be hazardous for any swimmer. precautionary/preparedness actions... rip currents will be life threatening. rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties and piers. heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach patrol. pay attention to flags and posted sign.
