URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 437 AM AKST Tue Feb 23 2021 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT AKST TONIGHT... * WHAT...Blowing snow with low visibility and cold wind chills occuring. West winds gusting to 50 mph will cause areas of blowing snow and drifting snow that will reduce visibilities to one half mile or less at times. Wind chills to 55 below. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible. * WHERE...Over Eagle and Twelvemile Summits. * WHEN...Until midnight tonight. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...West winds gusting to 50 mph over Eagle and Twelvemile summits are causing blowing and drifting snow. Cold wind chills to 55 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow around. Use caution when traveling, especially in open areas.
