BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Flood Warning National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 608 PM MST Tue Mar 21 2023 ...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM MST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Along Granite Creek near Prescott in Yavapai County. * WHEN...Until 700 AM MST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of creeks and normally dry washes is imminent or occurring. Roads are closed and impassable due to flooding. Numerous roads have been closed in Prescott. The stream gauge indicates water levels have risen above 11 feet and are at Major Flood Stage. An additional gauge downstream along Granite Creek shows water levels rising nearly 3 feet, and this gauge continues to rise, approaching Minor Flood Stage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 558 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain throughout the day. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Granite Creek, Willow Creek, Bannon Creek, Butte Creek, and Miller Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area this evening and overnight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Prescott near Granite Creek and White Spar Campground. - This includes the following highways... State Route 89 between mile markers 308 and 311...and between mile markers 314 and 315. - Visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for more information on flood safety. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Practice extra caution if traveling at night as nighttime flooding will be possible. In hilly or mountainous terrain, there are many low water crossings which will become dangerous in heavy rain.
