Winds gusting as high as 70 mph throughout the Matanuska Valley. Blowing and drifting snow likely in exposed areas, reducing visibility to as low as one quarter mile at times. * WHERE...Matanuska Valley. * WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Very strong winds could cause damage, power outages, and difficulty for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will peak late this afternoon through early evening, then gradually diminish overnight through Tuesday morning. Open areas such as lakes, the Hay Flats (including along the Glenn Highway), fairgrounds and areas that were less impacted by recent rain and/or wind are more likely to see reduced visibility due to blowing snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely.
