URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gray ME 1123 PM EDT Tue Apr 2 2024 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM EDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow and some sleet expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 20 inches and sleet accumulations around one quarter of an inch. Lower snowfall amounts are expected in the Connecticut Valley, with greatest amounts in the higher terrain where some areas may approach 2 feet. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, west central, and western Maine and central and northern New Hampshire. * WHEN...From 2 PM Wednesday to 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Moderate snow with periods of heavy snow with potential for a foot plus of accumulation will create hazardous travel conditions across the region. Strong gusty winds are expected with the snowstorm, which could cause damage to trees and power lines. Travel is not recommended as heavy snowfall and very low visibility will create extremely dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This is a expected to be a long-duration, multi-faceted event.
