URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service San Juan PR 442 AM AST Sun Apr 7 2024 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 5 PM AST THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...The combination of above normal air temperature and high humidity creates heat indices between 108 and 111 degrees Fahrenheit. * WHERE...The urban and coastal sections from the western PR to the San Juan Metropolitan area. * WHEN...From mid morning to this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Heat exhaustion likely with prolonged exposure. Heat stroke possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
