Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Marquette MI 357 AM EDT Tue Apr 16 2024 ...ELEVATED WILDFIRE POTENTIAL FOR MOST OF THE UPPER PENINSULA DUE TO A COMBINATION OF GUSTY WINDS, DRY AND WARM CONDITIONS... Gusty east winds as high as 20 to 30 mph, combined with dry and warm conditions will lead to elevated wildfire potential this afternoon and evening across most of the Upper Peninsula until the arrival of rain showers late. Locally higher wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible late in the day across far western Upper Michigan. Avoid outdoor burning today. Immediately report any wildfires to local emergency services by calling 911. Burn restrictions remain in effect.
