URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 333 PM AKDT Wed May 15 2024 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM AKDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow with low visibility. Total snow accumulations of up to 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. Visibility one half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Red Dog Mine * WHEN...Until 7 AM AKDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Large snow drifts will form. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be periods of low visibility in blowing snow through tonight. Very strong winds will decrease from late tonight through Thursday morning. The worst conditions are expected at Red Dog Mine and along the Mine Road. Noatak will be windy but not have low visibility because of warmer conditions there mean the precipitation in Noatak will be rain. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
