URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Wakefield VA 239 PM EDT Fri Jun 21 2024 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, eastern, north central, south central, and southeast Virginia. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Oppressive heat and humidity will overspread the area Saturday and continue into Sunday. Temperatures only fall back into the mid 70s to near 80 for most Saturday night which will compound heat stress on those without air conditioning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
