Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service Gaylord MI 329 AM EDT Sun Jun 30 2024 ...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected due to high wave action and strong rip currents. * WHERE...Emmet, Presque Isle, Leelanau, Antrim, Benzie, Manistee and Charlevoix Counties, and Beaver Island and surrounding islands. * WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. Cold water temperatures in the upper 50s Fahrenheit will also bring the risk of hypothermia. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
