URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Flood Watch National Weather Service Wakefield VA 825 AM EDT Thu Jul 11 2024 ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western Currituck and Virginia, including the following areas, Chesapeake, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep moisture across eastern Virginia and northeast North Carolina combined with a stalled cold front will lead to the potential for heavy rainfall today into this evening across Hampton Roads and parts of northeast North Carolina.
