BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED Flash Flood Warning National Weather Service Charleston SC 903 AM EDT Tue Aug 6 2024 The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Beaufort County in southeastern South Carolina... Berkeley County in southeastern South Carolina... Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina... Colleton County in southeastern South Carolina... Dorchester County in southeastern South Carolina... * Until 1230 PM EDT. * At 903 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated torrential rainfall extending across much of the Charleston Metro area northwest to Summerville, Ridgeville and Saint George with lighter rainfall farther west into portions of Colleton and far eastern Beaufort Counties. As much as 6 to 12 inches of rain has fallen so far and additional 2 to 4 inches could fall this morning. Flash flooding is occurring in parts of West Ashley and Downtown Charleston. Other areas are likely seeing similar conditions. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Walterboro, Saint George, Edisto Beach, Givhans Ferry State Park and Ladson. Water levels along Ireland Creek at Walterboro continue to slowly rise. Water may approach or flood some businesses along Ivanhoe Road. Evacuations are ongoing in this area. Heed advice from local officials. Water levels are also rising along Church Creek in West Ashley. Water may impact homes along Wolk Drive and Two Loch Place. Colleton County Emergency officials report water is overtopping the McGrady Dam southwest of Walterboro near Cain Branch Road and Cavanahugh Road. The dam could fail at any time and an evacuation notice has been sent to residents downstream of the dam. If the dam fails, flash flooding will occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
