URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Des Moines IA 155 PM CDT Fri Aug 23 2024 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM CDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 expected. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northwest, south central, southwest, and west central Iowa. * WHEN...From 1 PM to 8 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat may continue Monday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
