BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED Flash Flood Warning National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC 345 AM EDT Fri Sep 27 2024 The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Northern Greenville County in upstate South Carolina... Northwestern Spartanburg County in upstate South Carolina... * Until 800 AM EDT. * At 345 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the northern Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible as tropical rainbands lift north. Significant flooding appears likely across much of the warned area, with numerous road closures and water rescues likely, damage to even well-built structures, and standing in low-lying areas. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Greer, Taylors, Berea, Boiling Springs SC, Travelers Rest, Landrum, Slater-Marietta, Inman, Mayo, Tryon, Chesnee, Campobello, Lake Robinson, Tigerville, Paris Mountain State Park, Pleasant Ridge State Park, Furman University, Cherrydale Point, Lake Bowen and Jones Gap State Park. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Heavy rain is significantly increasing the risk of landslides, especially in areas where slides have occurred in the past. Slides can destroy single homes and other structures and large sections of roads. If you are in the warned area, you should not travel, except to move away from flash flood or landslide dangers. If you are in the vicinity of a stream near the heavy rainfall, especially on a mountainside, or at the base of a mountain or in a cove, move immediately to a safer location. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. && LAT...LON 3518 8237 3520 8228 3518 8187 3509 8182 3487 8249 3498 8255 3498 8253 3502 8254 3501 8259 3505 8260 3507 8257 3505 8274 3507 8276 3510 8270 3513 8268 3512 8266 3518 8248 3517 8244 3520 8242 3521 8239 FLASH FLOOD...RADAR INDICATED FLASH FLOOD DAMAGE THREAT...CONSIDERABLE EXPECTED RAINFALL RATE...1-2 INCHES IN 1 HOUR
