URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Hastings NE 238 AM CST Tue Mar 4 2025 ...AT LEAST MINIMAL SNOW ACCOMPANIED BY INTENSE NORTH-NORTHWEST WINDS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING... ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3 AM CST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow with potential near-blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulation 1 inch or less most places, but possibly closer to 2 inches in limited spots. North-northwest winds gusting as high as 55 to 65 mph. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central, and south central Nebraska. * WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to 3 AM CST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening commute. Very strong winds could cause near-blizzard like conditions in any steadier snow bands. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Although winds will be very intense out of the north-northwest, the minimal amount of expected snow, along with its wet and sticky consistency, is currently expected to keep true whiteout conditions from occurring for more than a brief period of time.
