Flood Advisory National Weather Service Columbia SC 432 PM EDT Sun May 11 2025 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the following counties, Lexington and Richland. * WHEN...Until 530 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 432 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Columbia, Lexington, West Columbia, Cayce, Irmo, Forest Acres, Springdale, St. Andrews, Oak Grove, Dentsville, Red Bank, South Congaree, Pine Ridge, Arcadia Lakes, Riverbanks Zoo, West Columbia Riverwalk, Five Points, SC State Fair Grounds, Columbia International University and Columbia Metro Airport. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 126 between mile markers 0 and 3. Interstate 26 between mile markers 103 and 117. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 56 and 74.
