Flood Advisory National Weather Service Birmingham AL 300 AM CDT Mon May 12 2025 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected as additional showers and some thunderstorms approach from the southwest and move over the advisory area. * WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery. * WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 300 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka, Meadville, Pike Road, Elmore, Coosada, Deatsville, Alabama State University, Alabama State Capitol, Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, Montgomery Zoo, Gunter Air Force Base, Maxwell Air Force Base, Boylston, Pinedale, Lagoon Park, Hyundai Motors Of Alabama and Woodcrest. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
