southwest to west winds will continue this afternoon, with gusts
of 30 to 40 mph overlapping with an area of single digit relative
humidity in south-central new mexico. five to ten hours of
single-digit relative humidity will occur in the southern portion
of the middle rio grande valley zone today where the risk of
rapid fire spread will be highest. a few showers may enhance wind
gusts at times this afternoon, creating erratic fire behavior.
southwest winds strengthen further sunday, expanding the area of
critical fire weather to west-central nm and the central
highlands. minimum humidity again falls into the single-digits for
five to ten hours on sunday in south-central nm.
