Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL 349 PM CDT Thu Jun 5 2025 ...POOR AIR QUALITY THROUGH TONIGHT... Poor air quality has expanded across portions of Illinois and Indiana this afternoon due to Canadian wildfire smoke. This has led particulate levels to increase above the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category of the EPA Air Quality Index. Recommended actions include reducing prolonged activities or heavy exertion outdoors. Active children, older adults, and people with pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma should avoid prolonged activities or heavy exertion outdoors.
