URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Quad Cities IA IL 816 PM CDT Thu Jun 19 2025 ...EXTREME HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with peak afternoon heat indices near 105 degrees possible, potentially lasting into early next week. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during periods of extreme heat and high humidity. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is forecast to be little reprieve overnight with low temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
