URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO 1025 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025 ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values at least in the upper 90s if not above 100 during afternoon hours. * WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central, north central, northeast, northwest, and west central Missouri. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures tonight and Sunday night will provide little relief with expected low temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
