WATCH COUNTY NOTIFICATION FOR WATCH 479 NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RAPID CITY SD 147 PM MDT SUN JUN 29 2025 The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm watch 479 in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening for the following areas in south dakota this watch includes 8 counties in southwest south dakota bennett custer fall river jackson oglala lakota in west central south dakota lawrence meade pennington in wyoming this watch includes 2 counties in northeast wyoming crook weston this includes the cities of allen, buckhorn, clareton, custer, deadwood, downtown newcastle, edgemont, faith, four corners, hermosa, hill city, hot springs, kadoka, kyle, lacreek wildlife refuge, lead, martin, moorcroft, morrisey, oglala, pine ridge, rapid city, rochelle, spearfish, sturgis, sundance, tuthill, union center, upton, and wall. this includes the tribal lands of the pine ridge reservation.
