BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED Flash Flood Warning National Weather Service Blacksburg VA 408 PM EDT Wed Jul 9 2025 The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Alleghany VA County in west central Virginia... The City of Covington in west central Virginia... * Until 1015 PM EDT Wednesday. * At 408 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen since 2 pm. Multiple storms continue to pass repeatedly over the same locations, with rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour within these storms. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
