URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 548 PM MDT Sun Aug 3 2025 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT MONDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 478... The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Monday. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 478 Salt Lake Desert, mainly south of Interstate 80. * WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph across areas south of I-80 and southwest 5 to 10 mph with gusts to around 20 mph north of I-80. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...5 to 9 percent south of I-80, and 10-15 percent north. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or are imminent.
