URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 625 AM CDT Sun Aug 17 2025 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.
