URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Buffalo NY 854 PM EDT Tue Oct 28 2025 ...FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures in the upper 20s to near 30 expected, with the exception of areas near the immediate shores of Lake Ontario. * WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties. * WHEN...Until 9 AM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest temperatures are expected further away from the immediate Lake Ontario shoreline PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
