Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC 135 AM EST Sun Nov 16 2025 ...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FOR MUCH OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA FROM NOON TO 6 PM TODAY... A cold front will push across eastern North Carolina this afternoon with winds shifting to northwest gusting up to 35 mph and relative humidity values dropping to around 30 to 35 percent which, combined with dry fuels, will bring an increased fire danger across much of eastern North Carolina. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please refer to your local burn permitting authority on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression equipment is readily available.
