URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 1015 AM AKST Thu Dec 4 2025 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM AKST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...A mix of freezing rain and light snow. Ice accumulations around a light glaze. Minor accumulations of snow. * WHERE...Anchorage / Eagle River (all elevations), Lower Matanuska Valley, and Southern Susitna Valley. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of light freezing rain this morning combined with surface temperatures right around freezing, may lead to a light glaze of icing on road surfaces, especially for already-icy side and neighborhood roads. Freezing rain is mixing with and in the process of changing over to light snow this morning. Light accumulations of around an inch or less are expected through this afternoon and early evening. Another round of accumulating snow returns for later this evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
