...SNOW FOR THE PANHANDLE THIS WEEKEND...
.The next band of precipitation is expected to move through
Sunday morning. Cold, stable, dry air moving in from Canada is
currently preventing most moisture from reaching Gustavus, Juneau,
and Haines. The lack of saturation is causing the snow to fall as
fine flakes, limiting accumulation. Therefore, the winter storm
warnings in the aforementioned areas were replaced with winter
weather advisories to reflect the snow rates for the remainder of
the event.
The arctic boundary is currently just south of the Angoon area,
with snow expected to begin in Kake in the afternoon hours. The
next system moving up from the south for Monday look to bring
additional accumulation to the southern panhandle, including
Petersburg, Wrangell, and Prince of Wales Island.
