Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Juneau AK 207 PM AKST Thu Dec 11 2025 ...POTENTIAL FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW LATE WEEKEND INTO EARLY WEEK... Forecast confidence is increasing for a potentially impactful snowfall event across the central panhandle beginning late this weekend and continuing into early next week as a heavy precipitation-producing front sweeps north. This precipitation, in combination with persistent cold temperatures, snow will be possible through the central panhandle as far north as the Icy Strait Corridor, including Juneau. Confidence has increased for accumulating snow to move into locations such as Angoon, Sitka, and Tenakee Springs overnight into Sunday morning, before snowfall continues to creep northward through Sunday with moderate to heavy rates potentially continuing into Monday morning. Forecast challenge still remains on how far north the available moisture will reach, as strong, dry outflow winds may limit areas of the northern panhandle to only lighter snow accumulations. Stay tuned for more details.
