URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Portland OR 1229 PM PST Sun Jan 4 2026 ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations up to one to two feet possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...South Washington Cascades and the Northern and Central Cascades of Oregon. * WHEN...From late Monday night through late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winterize your vehicle and have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. Make sure your emergency kit has the following items: flashlights, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water, non-perishable food items, tire chains, etc. Now is a good time to put snow tires on your vehicle.
