URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Buffalo NY 1245 AM EST Fri Jan 9 2026 ...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM EST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. Strongest gusts likely between 3 pm and 7 pm. * WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming Counties. * WHEN...From 7 AM this morning to 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
