URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 849 PM AKST Fri Jan 9 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM AKST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Visibility reduced to a half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Central Copper Valley. * WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of light to moderate snowfall is expected this evening into early Saturday morning, followed by a period of gusty south winds Saturday morning through Saturday evening. The gusty winds could loft the new snowfall, leading to areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
