URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Buffalo NY 137 PM EST Mon Jan 12 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 4 to 7 inches in the most persistent lake snows across the Tug Hill Plateau, and less than 3 inches for the surrounding lower elevations. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce some blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest additional accumulations will be across the Tug Hill Plateau, with much lower accumulations across the lower elevations. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and reduced visibility at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
