URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 1054 AM AKST Mon Jan 12 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM WEDNESDAY TO 9 AM AKST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. * WHERE...Central Aleutians. * WHEN...From 9 AM Wednesday to 9 AM AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to blowing snow. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An area of low pressure will drop southward Wednesday afternoon across the Central Aleutians, including Adak and Atka. Periods of snowfall accompanied by gusty winds will lead to visibilities dropping to as low as a quarter mile due to blowing snow. Conditions will begin to improve Thursday morning as the system moves farther southward into the North Pacific. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
