URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 215 AM EST Fri Jan 16 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches, with locally higher totals possible. The heaviest snow is expected to fall near and west of Naubinway in Mackinac County. * WHERE...Western Mackinac County, and Beaver Island and surrounding islands. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions.
