URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 1205 AM CST Sat Jan 17 2026 ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TODAY... .Gusty north winds and dry air along with increasing fire danger will lead to critical fire weather conditions across all of South Central Texas today. ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CST THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY NORTH WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY ACROSS ALL OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS... * AFFECTED AREA...All of South Central Texas. * TIMING...From 10 AM this morning to 8 PM CST this evening. * WINDS...North to northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
