URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Grand Rapids MI 243 AM EST Thu Jan 22 2026 ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM FRIDAY TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 20 to 25 below expected Friday morning. Continued significant cold Friday and Friday night. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan. * WHEN...From 1 AM Friday to 10 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills approaching 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while outdoors. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible and consider making checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
