URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Portland OR 953 AM PST Thu Jan 22 2026 ...AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST FRIDAY... ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 10 AM PST THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Light winds and limited air movement will lead to a period of stagnant air conditions. * WHERE...Central and Southern Willamette Valley, North and Central Coast Range Valleys of Oregon, Lower Columbia River and Cowlitz River Valleys, Tualatin Valley, Clackamas County Cascade Foothills, North Clark County Lowlands, and Inner Vancouver Metro. * WHEN...Until noon PST Friday. * IMPACTS...Deteriorating air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures have generally warmed above 25 degrees at this time. Therefore, will let the Cold Weather Advisory expire. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible. According to state air quality agencies, prolonged periods of stagnant air can hold pollutants close to the ground where people live and breathe. Check with your local burn agency for any current restrictions in your area. People with respiratory illness should follow their physician's advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air, especially if an Air Quality Alert is in effect for your area.
