Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac MI 752 PM EST Thu Jan 22 2026 ...CAUTIOUS TRAVEL IS ADVISED FOR REDUCED VISIBILITY AND QUICK SNOW ACCUMULATION ON ROADWAYS THIS EVENING... WEATHER... * Several lake effect snow bands from just north of the I-69 corridor down to the I-96/I-696 corridor will move through the area during the next few hours. * Lake effect snow showers will produce varying snowfall accumulation. Potential for the heaviest activity to bring accumulations up to an inch. * West winds around 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph. * Air temperatures will range between 11 and 19 degrees with wind chills of -5 to 5 degrees. IMPACTS... * Moderate snow will cause reductions of visibility to 1 mile or less. There may be rapid fluctuations of visibility. * Accumulating snow may lead to slippery roads particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses. && PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... * Reduced visibilities along with snow covered and slippery roads will cause variable traffic rates.
