URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC 1009 AM EST Fri Jan 23 2026 ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 19 below expected. * WHERE...Portions of north central and western Maryland, central, northwest, and western Virginia, and eastern and panhandle West Virginia. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.
