URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Grand Rapids MI 658 PM EST Fri Jan 23 2026 ...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan. * WHEN...Until 11 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
