URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Gaylord MI 931 PM EST Fri Jan 23 2026 ...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold air temperatures as low as 25 to 35 below zero in some interior northern lower Michigan communities. Air temperatures in lakeshore communities likely reach 0 to 15 below. Dangerously cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero possible along the lakeshores. Wind chills may drop as low as 35 to 45 below across the coldest areas of interior northern lower Michigan. * WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...Until 11 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold air temperatures and wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Make sure outdoor animals and livestock have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.
