URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Raleigh NC 304 AM EST Sun Jan 25 2026 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST MONDAY... * WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow and sleet accumulations up to one half inch. Ice accumulations of one quarter to one half inch. * WHERE...The southern through northeast Piedmont, western Sandhills, and northern Coastal Plain of North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures will rise above freezing over all but the far northeast Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain tonight, leading to melting and improving travel conditions. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
