URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 959 PM CST Mon Jan 26 2026 ...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills and temperatures as low as 11. * WHERE...All of south central Texas. * WHEN...Until 9 AM CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold temperatures could result in hypothermia or frostbite on exposed skin if precautions are not taken. Extreme cold will become life threatening and likely damage unprotected pipes and put livestock at risk. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
